Seek It Out (www.seekitout.co.uk) is a professionally built internet portal offering small & rural businesses the opportunity to join a web site community to advertise their business, by taking a ‘showcase’ page(s) within the Seek It Out site. Seek It Out is a site offering fair, affordable and easy web marketing for smaller businesses.
This site is in the form of an in depth directory, giving a useful overview of the members business including helpful facts as well as pictorial information. By coming together within one site, any single business, product or service based, can greatly enhance their visibility – power by numbers and the benefit of multi business traffic. This is a site to view products not to purchase, a ‘one stop window shop’ – suitable for those with no internet presence, local, or national or for those already with a web site wanting to increase their traffic or general viability to the market place. Launched in December 2006 membership is steadily growing, in numbers, regions, and products.
The ethos...
To provide internet advertising that is professional, specifically aimed at benefiting only the members and being totally affordable. To provide small & rural businesses with the same internet advertising opportunities as larger and urban businesses. To provide a service where we undertake all the technical and administration responsibilities leaving the member free to run their business. To provide a site where there is no external ad’s, pop up’s or sponsored ad’s to compromise their advert ranking and to ensure the internal search methods are fair to all and easy & familiar for the public to use. To provide the members with an all round package including marketing material, e mail address (optional) and a reward scheme.
On the other side the public viewing - we ensured that the site would be free to view, no requirement for a log in or registration. We were determined that the members would have a site which encourages the public to visit; afterall you do not have to log in to visit a high street shop – so why should the public do it on the internet!
Another problem area is sector or region specific sites limiting their members exposure or schemes with short term funding which fall, in time, by the wayside becoming out of date or cease to function properly – we clearly address these troublesome issues.
Providing good advertising at an affordable price which is all year round, changeable and within a growing medium speaks for itself.
The progression from idea to birth...
We spent 18 months of market research and honing the idea into something ready for development before we even started the 6 months of build and design. It is clear that the internet is fast becoming the window shopping / information point for many and as our population shifts and grows it is vital for all businesses to have a web presence, as a pure information tool if nothing else.
The design house (Clear Design) has been working with us on this complex and intensively thought through project, to ensure we have a robust, technically able, and appealing website. We not only offer our advertisers a site that is current but one that will constantly be monitored and upgraded to ensure we make the most of the opportunities for search engine recognition. The design team are going to continue to be involved in upgrading, maintenance, and advisory long term – we believe in building loyal partnerships with our suppliers – as good long term relationships are vital to providing a good service.
Who are we and why can we do this...
The team is headed by Rosie Beswick a small business advisor & marketing research executive, along with her husband Frank Wagstaffe, himself a multiple business owner. We are based in Shropshire close to the Welsh borders, working primarily with a small team and using outside agencies and services as required ensuring we always have the appropriate people on board at the right time.

This site is hosted by Pipex, one of the UK’s largest ISP’s, on our own personal server. We chose to go national as we require a major player to provide a good, reliable service with maximum up time – something we were not willing to put in the hands of anyone other than a Tier 1 player.
